The Baxter Theatre Centre seeks to appoint fifteen (15) Ushers on an ad-hoc basis in the Front of House department. Successful candidates will support Front of House operations, deliver excellent customer service to patrons, and help ensure public safety during performances and events.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric.
  • Friendly, professional manner with strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Fluency in English and at least one other official South African language.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, independently and in a team.
  • Alertness with the ability to think quickly in an emergency.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Flexibility to work according to theatre operational hours (evenings, weekends, public holidays as required).

Advantageous:

  • Prior experience in hospitality and/or theatre environments.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Scan admission tickets and manage entry to venues.
  • Seat patrons timeously and in the correct auditorium/venue.
  • Assist patrons in locating assigned seats.
  • Direct patrons to on-site facilities (restaurant, bar, restrooms).
  • Provide assistance to patrons with special needs.
  • Resolve seating disputes and address general patron concerns courteously.
  • Guide patrons to exits/entrances and support audience flow and safety procedures.

Remuneration

  • R43.56 per hour (ad-hoc/shift-based, as required by operational needs).
