Learner Miner Learnership Overview

South Deep is recruiting Learner Miners from its Host Communities to join a structured Mining Learnership Programme. This initiative offers practical, work-based training to prepare learners for mining careers and improve employability upon completion.

Host Community Eligibility

Applicants must either:

• Reside in one of these Host Communities: Bekkersdaal, Zuurberkom, Thusanang, Hillshaven, Westonaria, Poortjie, Simunye, Kalbasfontein, Jachtfontein
  OR
• Have completed Grade 12/Matric at a school located in one of the above Host Communities.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 (NQF 4) or N3 with two languages passed
• Minimum of 2 years’ mining experience
• Medically fit for mining work (Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre)
• Pass a Heat Tolerance Screening test and other required assessments

Key Competencies

• Follow mine safety regulations
• Undergo technical training prescribed by MQA/DMRE
• Maintain performance in technical evaluation cycles
• Take ownership of personal career growth
• Adhere to company policies and employment conditions
• Promote teamwork and collaborative delivery
• Demonstrate proficiency in English (written and spoken)
