Stipend: R5 183.00 per month

These short-term positions exist in the Heritage and Research Department at Robben Island Museum.
The purpose of the position is to assist in maintaining and/or rehabilitating the Airstrip and other facilities of Robben Island Museum.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Brush-cutting vegetation using weed-eaters and other handheld equipment
  • Plucking of weeds
  • Application of herbicides
  • Collection and disposal of deadwood and debris
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety Regulations

Requirements:

  • Grade 12
  • Between 21–35 years old

Competencies:

  • Team player
  • Physically fit
  • Pay attention to details
  • Work and stay at Robben Island
  • Able to use weed-eater and small plant machinery for horticulture
  • Work under harsh environmental conditions
  • Work overtime to meet deadlines
  • Willing to work during weekends as and when required
