First National Bank (FNB) — one of South Africa’s most trusted and innovative financial institutions — invites unemployed South African youth to apply for its 12-Month FNB Unemployed Youth Learnership Programme 2025.

This nationwide initiative offers structured financial-sector training, work readiness skills, and on-the-job experience across all nine provinces. Successful applicants will gain a monthly stipend of R 5 650 while completing accredited learning modules within FNB’s diverse banking divisions.

FNB’s Learnership Programme is designed to give young people with limited work exposure a chance to enter the banking, finance, insurance, and investment sectors. Participants will complete both academic coursework and practical training across FNB’s business units, including:

  • Sales & Customer Service
  • Collections & Risk Management
  • Investments, Private and Wealth Banking
  • FNB Cards & Digital Channels
  • Administration & Support Services
  • Catering & Facilities Management

Minimum Entry Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be South African citizens, aged 18 – 34 years
  • Hold a Matric certificate (NQF 4) or higher (NQF 5–6) qualification
  • Be unemployed for 6 months or longer and not currently studying
  • Have less than 12 months of work experience (part-time included)
  • Be fluent in English and possess good communication skills
  • Have no criminal record and not be blacklisted
  • Never have worked for FirstRand Group or participated in its FirstJob Programme
  • Be willing to complete a 12-month learnership while gaining work experience
